1st Lt. Ewart T. Sconiers was absolutely adored by his brother, Kenneth, two years his junior. Kenneth Sconiers' daughters--Pamela, Paige, Paula (3 Ps)--helplessly watched his despair and grief intensify as he aged. Their part in the quest to recover their uncle is their tribute to their father and to the lessons of love he taught. Kenneth's life was a daily reminder of the values both brothers fought to protect, and the 3Ps are certain Ewart would have saluted the hero his brother became in their eyes.
BRICK BY BRICK HE SHAPED US ALL
(A poem in honor of Kenneth D. Sconiers, by Pamela Sconiers Whitelock. Kenneth purchased a huge pile of old bricks and, after work each day, cleaned each one for use in building the family home in Panama City, FL.)
Brick by brick... From familiar country roads He frugally gathered Only the best To create reality From a lifetime dream.. A home... For us
Brick by brick... With every spare moment He meticulously toiled, Chipping away Desertion, Poverty, Tragey, Heartache
Brick by brick... His strong yet gentle hands Laid foundations in good earth And cultivated Watermelon, Sweet carrots, Blueberries, And independence
Brick by brick... His visions of excellence Drafted plans that ensured Both shelter and haven Of strength, Wisdom, Unconditionality, Peace
Brick by brick... Master craftsman of character He hammered...and insulated With integrity, Discipline, Perseverance, Self respect, Faith
Brick by brick... He made room For windows and doors... And dreams, Tools and straw hats, Fishing, Dogs, A fireplace, Swings that went so high, Nannie, Playhouses, Pingpong, College, Smokey grills and Gator games, Checkers, Mistakes, Pancakes, Boiled peanuts, Laughter, And "Old Blue"
Brick by brick... Example of love He listened; He gave... Unconditionally, Boundlessly, Earnestly, Joyfully
Brick by brick... Companion for life He lingers... Unequivocally, Understandingly, Protectively, Devotedly... Quintessentially beloved
